Darjeeling, well known as the โQUEEN OF HILL STATIONSโ lies in the north part of West Bengal (India). It has enclosed with hills, stunning forests of teak wood, pine trees and all green tea estates. Batasia Loop is a railway loop, about 5 kms away from Darjeeling, an amazing feat of engineering and it is quite a treat to observe the Toy Train passing through this loop. The War memorial is constructed in the remembrance of the brave sons of Darjeeling who died for the country since Independence in 1947.

Japanese Peace Pagoda is a latest attraction constructed by Japanese Monks and commands an outstanding view of the city and the Himalayan Range.
Dhirdham Temple is located just below the Railway station and is structurally a replica of the famous Pashupatinath temple of Kathmandu, Nepal.
The Mall and Chowrasta are important attractions in Darjeeling. The Mall road originates and concludes at the Chowrasta, which is the hub of Darjeeling town. A walk around the Mall gives you a feel of Darjeeling life with the pleasing view of the mountains, valleys with rhododendron trees and old houses.
Ava Art Gallery about 10 minutes drive from the motor stand, it is just below the main road on the way to Ghoom and it houses have fine art and embroidery work of Mrs. Ava Devi.
The Tenzing Norgay Himalayan Mountaineering Institute trains mountaineers. It has a small museum also. Adjacent to it is the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park. Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park: placed adjacent to the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. It is a high altitude wild life park and a new residence for the Siberian Tiger, Himalayan Black Deer, Deer Panda, Llama and birds.
In Darjeeling, it will be a unique experience to visit a nearby Tea Garden to observe the real method of the manufacturing of Darjeeling Tea. You can even have the chance of buying tea directly form the tea factory. There are about 70 tea estates in this hill area and the most nearby one is the Happy Valley Tea Estate, which is about 3 kms from the city or within a walking distance of about 40 minutes.
The Rock Garden (also known as Barbotey Rock Garden) at Chunnu Summer Falls and Ganga Maya Park, near it, are recently added tourist spots in the hilly town of Darjeeling in the state of West Bengal, (India). It is a showpiece meant to lure tourists back to Darjeeling after political agitations disrupted the visit by tourists in the 1980s. Ganga Maya Park is further down the road, about 3 kilometers from the Rock Garden. Named after an innocent victim of police firing during the GNLF agitation, โit meanders down the course of a chortling mountain stream, past gazebos, clumps of flowering shrubs and trees, over humped backed bridges under which koi-carp coruscate, and into a circular lake with paddle boats and a waterfall.โ It has a small lake where boating facilities are available. Gorkha folk dances are performed to entertain the tourists.
Kurseong located at a height of 2458 Mts. (4864 ft), placed at a lower elevation for those who hate the severe winters of Darjeeling, Kurseong enjoys a milder and a very strong weather all over the year. Guru Rabindra Nath Tagore and the great composer Atul Prasad Sen got inspiration for some of their famed works around Kurseong. Sister Nivedita, the great follower of Swami Vivekananda made Kurseong her residence. A charming walk through the jungle of Cryptomaria japonica on the road, now called Aranya Sarani, escorts to the vast unlock meadows at Chimney. Almost 4 kilometers from Kurseong Railway Station in a stylish mansion in the deep woods of St. Mary's Hill is housed the Eastern Forest Rangers' College (EFRC). Earlier the campus was the sight of St. Mary's seminary, the first such seminary of the east of Suez. A statue of Jesus and Mary and the newly built Jt. John's Church, an example of modern architectural brilliance, are also located on the same hill.

It is one of the stunning hill stations at an altitude of 1767 meters with its own particular charms. Mirik has a wonderful lake and likewise eye-soothing tea gardens. Outstanding view of sunrise and sunset can be seen from Mirik Mountain. One can get pleasure from the huge area of orange orchards. Mirik is also the major supplier of oranges in West Bengal. From the top, one can have an aerial vision of the peaceful village life around the hill area amidst the flourishing green tea estate. Here you can also enjoy boat and horse riding. Those who are interested in gardening can buy variety of baby plants and seeds and other garnishes.

Meet and Greet on arrival at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station / Bagdogra International Airport and transfer to Darjeeling (6,950 Ft.). On arrival check-in to the hotel and the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at Darjeeling.

DARJEELING FULL DAY SIGHTSEEING WITH TIGER HILL
Early morning (4:00 AM) visit Tiger Hill (Subject to availability of Permit / Token) and then back to the hotel. After breakfast, starting at 8.30 AM, visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, P.N. Zoological Park (Thursday closed), Tenzing Rock, Ropeway, Tibetan Refugee self-help Centre (Sunday closed), Tea Garden (outer view), Japanese Temple. Evening free for shopping or leisure. Overnight stay at Darjeeling.

EXCURSION TO MIRIK (49 KMS. / 2ยฝ HRS. ONE-WAY)
After breakfast, I started for a full day excursion trip to Mirik (4,902 ft.), which is a small picturesque hill station with a beautiful lake surrounded by forested hills on all sides with the backdrop of Mt Kanchenjunga. The road runs through some fascinating tea gardens, Orange Orchards, Cardamom plantations and pine forests. Visit Sumendu Lake, which is famous for it being one of the best man-made lakes. Enjoy horse ride and boating at the lake site on a direct payment basis. On the way back to Darjeeling return via Pashupati Market, which is situated on the Indo-Nepal border (Extra vehicle charges will be applicable for Nepal Border to Pashupati Market on direct payment basis). Evening back to the hotel. Overnight stay at Darjeeling.
